Harry Bridge Defeats American Martyrs to Capture 2015 FIYA Championship
On an absolutely gorgeous Sunday morning at the Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum, FIYA held its Division 1 Flag Football Championship Day. Two undefeated teams -- Harry Bridges of Wilmington and American Martyrs of Manhattan Beach -- met on the gridiron where legendary athletes have played in the past. Both teams first offensive drives ended with interceptions. But Harry Bridges was able to get two more interceptions and eventually turn them into scores to lead 14 - 0 at halftime. The Bulldogs and the Mustangs continued to battle each other and play hard in the second half with each team scoring a touchdown. Harry Bridges wins its first FIYA Flag Football Championship by a score of 22 to 6. American Martyrs, who made it to the 2014 FIYA Flag Football Championship game as well, ended the season with a 10 - 1 record. In the 3rd place game, Orchard Academy of Bell put on an offensive display of speed and skill to defeat Frank Parent of Inglewood by a score of 44 to 12. Congratulations to all four teams for a wonderful season. Click on Sports, Flag Football and Playoffs for pictures from the Championship Day at the Coliseum.
