The sun came out just long enough for a fun filled day at the Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum for FIYA Football Championship Day. The title game saw OLHC of Los Angeles go against St. Jerome of Westchester. OLHC got off to a strong start, but the Spartans did not go quietly, rallying to get within a score in the second half before the Crusaders speed and size proved too much, giving OLHC the championship.
The Third Place game pitted Holy Trinity of San Pedro vs. St. Anastasia of Westchester in a taut game that neither team could take control of. After falling behind by six, Trinity’s second half score and conversion gave them a one point lead. The Panthers responded with a long march down the field, only to see the Chargers goal line defense hold on fourth down inside the ten in the final minute.
Congratulations to all four teams on excellent seasons, and thanks to everyone who came out and made it a memorable day for all involved.
